Dr. Michael K. Ackland, M.D. FAAOS, FRCSC
Dr. Ackland is the owner and general manager of the clinic. However, all medical services are provided by Boston Health’s team of licensed Thai doctors offering a range of services:
Dr. Michael Ackland is a Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon and Sports Medicine specialist at New England Baptist Hospital (NEBH). He particularly specializes in revision surgery of the shoulder after failed surgery.
Dr. Ackland attended medical school and completed his orthopedic residency training at the University of Ottawa, in Ottawa, Canada. He then received his fellowship from the prestigious Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
In addition to his surgical work, Dr. Ackland has served as a clinical instructor in Boston, as well as for students from all over the world. He is certified as an expert examiner for the Department of Industrial Accidents. He is the founder of the Ackland Sports Medicine Foundation, a charitable organization that raises and contributes funds to young athletes in need of financial assistance to play sports.
Dr. Ackland has been published in the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, and in the Journal of Pediatric Orthopedics, among others. He belongs to several orthopedic societies including the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. His clinical interests include arthroscopic reconstruction of the shoulder and knee, and the cartilage transplants of the knee.

Ploy graduated with a medical degree from Srinakharinwirot University did her residency in Family Medicine at Panyananthaphikkhu Chonprathan Medical Center. She is also board certified in Family Medicine

Dr Neon

Our Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner, Dr. Neon, studied at a Chinese school in Chiang Mai for 15 years. She has outstanding skills in both Chinese and English. After completing her high school education, she moved to Samut Prakan to pursue her dreams of working in the medical field.
Neon graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine from Huachiew Chalermprakiet University in cooperation with Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, China. She gained internship experience at several hospitals in Bangkok, the Metropolitan Region, and Nakhon Sawan for 1 year. Then she returned home to Chiang Mai and began working as a TCM doctor.
She is gentle and kind, with a deep understanding of each patient’s needs. She listens to and provides health advice to all patients. Her goal is for patients to live healthy, sustainable lives by using the thousand-year knowledge of TCM to balance their body and mental health. Her skills are very beneficial for promoting health rehabilitation and treating menopause, gynecology, insomnia, migraines, dyspepsia, gastrointestinal disorders, neurological disorders, stroke, musculoskeletal diseases, etc. with non-chemical acupuncture and Chinese herbs. She also specializes in cosmetic acupuncture, facial gua sha, and weight loss treatments.

Dr. Ami

One of our certified medical doctors with Boston Health Polyclinic, Ami first moved to New Zealand with her family when she was 13 years old. She studied at Waitakere College in Auckland, then returned to Thailand to pursue her dream of becoming a doctor.
Ami was accepted into the medical school at Mahidol University (PIMU). After graduating, she became a telemedicine doctor and an aesthetic doctor. Later she worked part-time at Nonthavej Hospital and as a freelance general medical practitioner at private hospitals in Thailand.
She has a passion for languages and communication. She won an English speech competition and was awarded a two-week scholarship to Sydney, Australia. Ami also took short courses in psychology (the power of language and thoughts) and American sign language at the University of the Virgin Islands, USA. Ami currently runs social media pages about conversational English and medical English.

Dr. Chanakarn Phornphutkul is the distinguished Chief of the Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy Unit, celebrated for his proficiency in knee, shoulder, and joint treatments. A fervent advocate for arthroscopic surgery, he excels in knee ligament reconstruction and shoulder tissue repair. As the lead doctor for the Thailand Olympic team and a pivotal member of the trauma team, he assists patients with fractures. His leadership accolades encompass presidencies at APKASS, ASSA, TOSSM, and TOTS. Currently, he holds the esteemed position of AO Trauma Thailand Chairperson. Dr. Phornphutkul’s dedication to orthopedics has earned him international acclaim.
